Vanda Pharmaceuticals Gets EMA Positive Opinion for Imsidolimab in Generalized Pustular Psoriasis
Vanda Pharmaceuticals announced that the European Medicines Agency's Committee for Orphan Medicinal Products has issued a positive opinion recommending orphan drug designation for Imsidolimab, its investigational monoclonal antibody, for the treatment of generalized pustular psoriasis. This marks the first time the EMA has formally recognized GPP as an orphan disease in Europe. The designation follows similar regulatory recognitions in the United States and Japan, and a Biologics License Application for Imsidolimab in GPP is currently under review by the FDA with a target action date of December 12, 2026. Vanda's CEO stated the positive opinion reinforces encouraging clinical data and highlights the urgent unmet medical need in GPP. The stock closed Thursday at $5.45, down 6.84%, but rose 4.19% to $5.68 in after-hours trading.
