Strabag has introduced roxit as a new umbrella brand to consolidate its building materials business, which spans production, processing, and recycling. The unit operates at more than 300 locations in 12 countries with approximately 3,000 employees, managing 116 concrete batching plants, over 70 quarries, 17 sand and gravel pits, and 12 bitumen emulsion and polymer-modified bitumen facilities. It produces around three million cubic metres of concrete and 24 million tonnes of stone and gravel annually. The brand prioritises resource conservation, CO₂ reduction, and increased use of renewable raw materials, applying proven solutions such as alternative powertrain technologies, new recycling methods, and pilot projects for low-carbon concrete. In quarry operations, Strabag is adopting conveyor systems for energy generation, switching to solar electricity, replacing diesel machinery with electric alternatives, and testing green hydrogen for heavy-duty vehicles and wheel loaders. The company is also examining materials like hemp, sheep's wool, clay, and recycled products at its Living Lab for Sustainable Construction in Vienna. CEO Stefan Kratochwill said the specialised units will deliver services including joint sealing and milling in road construction, concrete production, manufacture of mineral-based construction and insulation materials, and recycling solutions, aiming to be a reliable partner across the material cycle from extraction to recovery.
