Duke Energy Corporation

Duke Energy Corporation is a U.S. energy company operating through two segments: Electric Utilities and Infrastructure (EU&I) and Gas Utilities and Infrastructure (GU&I). The EU&I segment generates, transmits, distributes, and sells electricity in the Southeast and Midwest, using coal, hydroelectric, natural gas, oil, renewables, and nuclear fuel, and also wholesales electricity to municipalities, electric cooperatives, and other load-serving entities. The GU&I segment distributes natural gas to residential, commercial, industrial, and power generation customers, and invests in pipeline transmission, renewable natural gas, and natural gas storage projects. Formerly Duke Energy Holding Corp., it changed its name to Duke Energy Corporation in April 2006; it was founded in 1904 and is headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina.
