Its offerings include safety alarm units with replaceable batteries, sealed batteries, and battery backup alarms, as well as door chimes, ventilation products, ground fault circuit interrupters, and other electrical devices sold under the UNIVERSAL and USI Electric trade names. The company sells to wholesale distributors, chain, discount, and television retailers, home center stores, catalog and mail order companies, electrical and lighting distributors, manufactured housing companies, and other distributors, through independent sales organizations and sales representatives as well as its own catalogs, brochures, and website. Formerly known as Universal Security Instruments, Inc., it changed its name to Universal Safety Products, Inc. in April 2025; it was incorporated in 1969 and is headquartered in Owings Mills, Maryland.
