Smith Micro Software announced that founder Bill Smith has been appointed president and chief executive officer, succeeding Tim Huffmyer, who resigned to pursue other opportunities but will remain on the board of directors. Smith founded the company in 1982 and led it as chairman, president and CEO until March 2026, when he became executive chairman, giving him 44 years of uninterrupted service. Huffmyer had rejoined the company in the dual role of COO and CFO before becoming CEO, and Smith credited him with driving operational efficiency and a leaner foundation for growth. Smith said he returns at an exciting time, citing new products entering the market, expanding customer relationships and a healthy pipeline of prospective opportunities. The Pittsburgh-based developer of mobile software solutions trades on Nasdaq under the ticker SMSI.
