SK Hynix IncSuccessfully issued $26.5B in ADRs and listed on Nasdaq due to AI supply chain role and timing.
South Korean semiconductor giant SK Hynix last week successfully issued 26.5 billion dollars in US depositary receipts and listed on Nasdaq, but market watchers say this was due to the company's core role in the AI supply chain and its timing. As other Asian tech firms aim to follow suit, investor demand for AI-related stocks is expected to become more selective going forward, and the frenzy is unlikely to continue at current levels amid concerns over the sustainability of the AI-driven stock rally. The CEO of Capital Market Laboratories said SK Hynix is a special case because of its scale, liquidity, and indispensability to AI, and while the timing was nearly perfect, that perfection fades with each passing day. The co-founder of Reflexivity noted that the company succeeded because it leads in high-bandwidth memory for Nvidia and filled a gap in US investors' portfolios at the peak of the frenzy, and that a me-too listing without clear AI relevance or scarcity should not expect the same response.
