The Asian Development Bank, or ADB, on the 8th slightly raised its 2026 economic growth forecast for 43 developing countries and regions in Asia and the Pacific to 4.9%. This is an upward revision from the 4.7% projected in late April, but falls short of the 5.1% forecast made in April. The 2027 growth outlook was raised to 5.1% from the 4.8% seen in late April, matching the April forecast. The ADB noted that prolonged energy and supply chain disruptions from the Middle East conflict are driving up production costs and stalling economic activity, and cited risks to the downside including a re-escalation of the conflict and further deterioration in China's real estate market.
