ADTRAN IncQ2 revenue of $281.1M missed its own guidance, with GAAP operating margin of -3.6% and a $0.13 diluted loss per share.

ADTRAN Holdings Inc. reported second-quarter revenue of $281.1 million, up 6.1% from a year earlier for the period ended June 30, missing the company's own guidance as a project delay at a single large customer and an unfavorable product and customer mix weighed on results. Within that total, Optical Networking Solutions generated $109.7 million in revenue, up 22% year over year and 13% sequentially, with enterprise, government and cloud customers growing 47% year over year and hyperscaler revenue nearly doubling, up 97%. Access and Aggregation Solutions, the segment most exposed to the delayed customer, saw revenue fall 5% year over year and 4% sequentially. Non-GAAP gross margin slipped to 40.7% from 41.4% a year earlier, and on a GAAP basis ADTRAN posted an operating margin of negative 3.6% alongside a diluted loss of $0.13 per share. Management attributed the shortfall to tightened supply of key components including optical amplifiers, certain silicon and printed circuit boards rather than lost demand, and guided third-quarter revenue to between $275 million and $295 million with non-GAAP operating margin of 1.5% to 5.5%.
