Samsung Electronics Co LtdSamsung was the only major brand to post shipment growth (volumes up 2%) amid market decline.
India's smartphone shipments fell 10% year-over-year in the April-June quarter, the steepest June-quarter decline in six years, as AI-driven demand for memory chips pushed up handset prices. The drop was sharper than China's 2% decline, partly because about 60% of India's market is concentrated in the sub-₹20,000 segment where higher memory costs hit hardest. Shipments in the sub-₹15,000 segment fell 45%, while Samsung was the only major brand to post shipment growth, with volumes rising 2%. Chinese brands' combined market share fell to its lowest second-quarter level since 2020, and OnePlus said it would stop launching new products in Europe and North America while maintaining its India business. Analysts expect memory shortages and elevated smartphone prices to persist until at least the end of 2027.
