Allegro MicroSystems introduced the A81415, the industry's first ASIL-D-certified Power Management IC to integrate a wheel-speed sensor interface, targeting electromechanical braking systems. The single-chip device decodes standard 2-level, PWM, and AK protocols, eliminating the need for a separate decoder IC and up to nine external components, which can save up to $4 in semiconductor bill-of-materials per vehicle and free over 50% of board space. Built on an automotive grade-0 process, the A81415 includes a buck-boost pre-regulator, five LDO regulators, and a single-inductor architecture, and when paired with the APM81815 pre-regulator and 48V gate drivers, it forms a fail-operational chipset scalable from 12V to 48V corner modules. The PMIC shares decoded wheel-speed data over SPI to reduce latency and free MCU bandwidth, while its low-noise rails are tuned for Allegro's XtremeSense TMR angle sensors. The product is on display at electronica Shanghai and is available for sampling and evaluation.
