Amazon.com IncAWS revenue surges 37% with AI and chips each at $25B run rate, indicating strong demand for its cloud and AI services.

Amazon Web Services posted 37% revenue growth in the most recent quarter, with margins surging and the business accelerating sequentially. On the earnings call, CEO Andy Jassy said Amazon does not need a frontier AI model because AWS is set up for customers to use other models, though the company is still working on one. He disclosed that AI within AWS has reached a $25 billion annualized revenue run rate, and the chips business separately also has a $25 billion run rate. Jassy reiterated that the chips business could be a $50 billion entity if it were standalone and not selling internally to Amazon, and he discussed plans to sell chips to third parties for installation in their own data centers.
