Amazon.com IncRising yields and inflation fears pressure Amazon's valuation amid heavy AI spending and negative free cash flow.
Amazon.com fell about 2.1% to $260.90 on Monday as the 10-year Treasury yield approached 4.75%, with Reuters reporting that inflation fears pushed the probability of a September Fed rate increase above 60%. The decline reflects investor concern over Amazon's heavy AI investment, as its second-quarter filing showed operating cash flow up 33% to $161.4 billion but free cash flow swinging from an $18.2 billion inflow to a $7.6 billion outflow, driven by a $66.1 billion increase in property and equipment purchases. The stock now trades 5.55% above its GF Value of $247.18, leaving little margin for error if the AI payoff takes longer than expected.
