The S&P 500 added 0.23%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.32%, and the Nasdaq 100 climbed 0.75%. Apple fell more than 8% after reporting disappointing service revenue and weaker-than-expected China sales. The 10-year Treasury yield rose 4 basis points to 4.70% after the second-quarter employment cost index increased 0.9%, above the 0.8% forecast. Chipmakers extended sharp gains, with the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index up more than 3%, while cybersecurity stocks also advanced.
