Amazon has the lowest data center building costs among the top hyperscalers, according to BofA Securities. The brokerage estimates Amazon's costs at $25 billion per gigawatt of capacity, compared to $37 billion per gigawatt for Google and $45 billion per gigawatt for Meta Platforms. BofA projects Amazon will spend $159 billion on AI infrastructure in 2026 and $230 billion in 2027, for a total of $389 billion over the two years. The 2027 estimate was raised from a prior projection of $196 billion. Separately, Amazon Web Services introduced Loom for AWS, an open-source platform to help enterprises build and deploy AI agents with security controls and governance.
