Amazon reported 37% second-quarter AWS revenue growth, its fastest cloud expansion in about four-and-a-half years, yet the stock slipped 0.9% to $258.59 as investors questioned whether booming AI demand can outpace spending. AWS generated $42.2 billion in sales and $16.6 billion in operating income, a 39.4% margin, and contributed roughly 60% of Amazon's $27.5 billion total operating profit from just 21% of companywide revenue. However, trailing operating cash flow rose 33% to $161.4 billion, while free cash flow swung from an $18.2 billion inflow to a $7.6 billion outflow as property and equipment purchases jumped by $66.1 billion, a $25.8 billion reversal. The stock trades 4.87% above its $246.57 GF Value estimate, and at nearly 21 times earnings, investors expect AWS to convert its infrastructure spending into future cash flow.
