Amazon.com IncShares fell 1.8% despite strong earnings, as negative free cash flow from heavy AI capex cooled the rally.
Amazon shares fell roughly 1.8% in Tuesday's regular session, cooling a post-earnings rally that had pushed the company's market capitalization past $3 trillion for the first time. The decline came despite strong second-quarter results, with AWS sales surging 37% to $42.2 billion and operating income jumping to $16.6 billion from $10.2 billion a year ago. Overall revenue rose 20% to $200.6 billion while operating income climbed 43% to $27.5 billion. Amazon disclosed that both its AI business and homegrown chip business have already exceeded a $25 billion annual revenue run rate. However, trailing 12-month free cash flow turned negative to $7.6 billion as net property and equipment purchases surged by $66.1 billion, driven largely by AI infrastructure spending. The stock traded at $273.17, about 11.35% above its GF Value of $245.33.
