Amazon shares surged 14% after the company reported second-quarter revenue of $200.6 billion and adjusted earnings per share of $1.97, both ahead of Wall Street expectations. The rally added $25 billion to the fortune of founder and chairman Jeff Bezos, who owns more than 8% of the company. Amazon Web Services revenue grew 37% year-over-year, its fastest pace in 18 quarters, while operating income for the cloud unit jumped 63% to $16.6 billion, representing 60% of Amazon's total. The company ended the quarter with an AWS backlog of almost $500 billion and raised its 2026 capital expenditure outlook to $220 billion from $200 billion, citing higher memory costs. The stock trades at a price-to-operating-cash-flow multiple of 18.3, near a 10-year low.
