Advanced Micro Devices IncIntel's strong results and server CPU supply crunch signal robust demand for CPUs, benefiting AMD as a competitor in the same market.
Intel reported second-quarter revenue of $16.13 billion, beating the Wall Street consensus of $14.33 billion by roughly $1.8 billion and triggering after-hours gains for AMD and Arm. Intel's adjusted earnings per share reached $0.42 against a consensus of $0.21, marking its fastest revenue growth in nearly 15 years. AMD shares gained roughly 2.93% after hours to approximately $555.49, while Arm added about 4.26% to approximately $295.11. The results were driven by a 13% year-over-year jump in Intel's Client Computing Group to $8.9 billion, amid a broader server CPU supply crunch that has pushed China server CPU prices up more than 40% since the start of 2026 for some products. Intel guided third-quarter 2026 revenue of $15.8 billion to $16.8 billion, above the $15.1 billion consensus, and CEO Lip-Bu Tan noted demand continues to run ahead of supply, especially for Xeon server CPUs.
