Advanced Micro Devices IncUpstage's Solar Pro 4 model runs production traffic on AMD GPUs with joint optimization, deepening a partnership and strategic investment that drives AMD product adoption.

South Korean AI startup Upstage is considering a pre-IPO funding round as it prepares for a potential stock-market listing, according to a Bloomberg report. Co-founder and CTO Hwalsuk Lee said the company is reviewing several capital market options, including an IPO, but has set no fixed timeline or size for either an IPO or a pre-IPO round. The Seoul-based startup raised 560B won, or $420M, in a Series C financing this year, taking its total funding to 730B won. AMD-backed Upstage has secured a partnership and strategic investment from Advanced Micro Devices as it deepens its work with the chipmaker, and Lee said its latest Solar Pro 4 model is handling production traffic on AMD graphics processing units, with joint optimization efforts improving throughput by 25% and helping the model process more than 100 billion tokens of AI work per day. The startup plans to increase the size of its AI models, expand support for Southeast Asian languages, and strengthen its agent capabilities, while building a broader domestic AI stack through partnerships with South Korean AI chip designer FuriosaAI and deployments of its technology in large-scale consumer services.
