AMD CEO Lisa Su declared that artificial intelligence has reached an inflection point where inference compute is projected to surpass training compute for the first time in 2026, speaking at the company's Advancing AI conference in San Francisco. Monthly AI token consumption has hit roughly 35 quadrillion tokens, a 160-fold increase in two years, and AMD now sees the server CPU market reaching $220 billion by 2030, up from a prior $120 billion estimate, driven by agentic AI workloads. The company launched its EPYC Venice processor on TSMC's 2nm architecture and has secured major partnerships with OpenAI, Meta, and Anthropic, including an up to $5 billion equity investment in Anthropic tied to deployment milestones.
