Advanced Micro Devices IncLost SpaceX AI deal to Nvidia, which can offer allocation guarantees AMD cannot match.
Advanced Micro Devices lost a flagship AI infrastructure deal with SpaceX to Nvidia, even as its Data Center revenue surged 107% to $6.72 billion in the second quarter. SpaceX chose Nvidia's Vera Rubin platform, reportedly claiming 20% of Nvidia's next-platform capacity, because Nvidia can offer allocation guarantees that AMD cannot match. AMD shares closed at $469.46 on Thursday, down 13.77% over the past month, despite total revenue of $11.54 billion, up 50.1% year over year. The company counts OpenAI, Meta, and Anthropic as strategic anchor customers, including a 2-gigawatt Anthropic deal on MI450 in Helios and Microsoft Azure at scale. Management raised long-term targets and expects Data Center revenue to more than double year over year in 2027.
