Advanced Micro Devices IncSurging server CPU demand driven by AI workloads, with TrendForce forecasting a fourfold increase in demand for agentic AI.

Advanced Micro Devices is expected to report second-quarter earnings after the market closes on August 4, with server CPU demand outpacing supply and driving higher prices. Market research firm TrendForce notes that the CPU-to-GPU ratio in AI data centers could shift toward 1:1 or 1:2, suggesting a fourfold increase in server CPU demand for agentic AI workloads. Server CPU prices reportedly rose 10% to 20% between March and April, and AMD is anticipated to hike prices further in the second and third quarters. AMD controlled a third of the server CPU market in the first quarter of 2026, up from 27.2% a year earlier, with a revenue share of 46.2%, according to Mercury Research. The company guided for a 46% year-over-year increase in second-quarter revenue to $11.2 billion at the midpoint, and analysts have substantially raised long-term earnings growth expectations.
