Advanced Micro Devices IncQ3 earnings and Q4 guidance missed elevated expectations, despite record revenue and EPS beats.

Advanced Micro Devices dropped 8% in premarket trading on Wednesday after its quarterly results and forecast failed to meet elevated investor expectations. The chipmaker reported record revenue of $11.54 billion, up 50% from a year ago, and adjusted earnings per share of $1.66, both topping Wall Street estimates. However, the company's guidance for current-quarter revenue of approximately $13 billion, plus or minus $300 million, fell short of the highest analyst forecasts of up to $14 billion. Futurum chief market strategist Shay Boloor noted that the stock was priced for an exceptional result, and this was not an exceptional result. AMD also warned of a softening PC market and reported a year-over-year decline in gaming graphics revenue.
