AMD acquires MEXT's AI-driven memory-optimization technology to integrate into data center products, strengthening its AI inference and agentic AI position.

Advanced Micro Devices is set to acquire MEXT, a company that has developed an AI-driven memory-optimization technology. MEXT's software solution makes NAND flash memory appear as DRAM to the operating system, expanding DRAM capacity by 2 to 4 times while cutting costs in half. AMD plans to integrate the technology into its data center product line, strengthening its position in the inference and agentic AI markets. The acquisition follows AMD's earlier purchase of server maker ZT Systems as it transforms from a chipmaker into a complete AI infrastructure player.
