The American Kidney Fund has launched an online course on lupus nephritis through its Kidney Health Coach program. The course, developed with AKF’s subject matter expert planning committee, covers recognizing signs and symptoms, promoting patient-care team conversations, understanding testing and diagnosis, and navigating treatment options. It expands the curriculum for more than 8,000 volunteer Kidney Health Coaches across all 50 states, who will also receive a community presentation supported by GSK. An estimated 1.5 million Americans have lupus, and about half of adults with the condition develop lupus nephritis, with higher risk among men and racial and ethnic minorities. AKF President and CEO LaVarne A. Burton said the course empowers coaches with foundational knowledge to drive better health outcomes.
