Amazon.com IncAnthropic's $100B AWS commitment boosts AWS backlog and revenue visibility.

Anthropic, the company behind the Claude AI models, plans to publish its IPO prospectus after Monday's Labor Day holiday, with a listing possibly as soon as late September or October. Amazon shareholders have a specific reason to read it: on April 20, Anthropic committed to spend more than $100 billion over the next ten years with Amazon Web Services, a sum equal to about a fifth of AWS's contracted backlog, which reached about $496 billion in June. The prospectus will provide audited financial statements, including actual revenue and purchase commitments, offering the first verifiable check on Anthropic's finances. Amazon has already invested $10 billion in Anthropic this year, with up to $15 billion more available under a financing arrangement tied to compute-delivery milestones. Anthropic's reported annualized revenue pace reached $65 billion by the end of July, and the company could go public at a valuation of about $2 trillion.
