Apollo Global Management and Blackstone finalized a $35 billion private credit deal to finance Anthropic's data center capacity expansion. The agreement, one of the largest private credit deals ever, uses a Special Purpose Vehicle to purchase Google TPUs that will be leased to Anthropic, keeping the hardware off its balance sheet ahead of a planned IPO. Broadcom provided residual value guarantees for $30 billion in debt tranches, while Apollo's Atlas SP Partners contributed an additional $800 million in equity. The deal is part of a broader initiative to deploy over 20 gigawatts of compute through 2028 for Anthropic and OpenAI, and it highlights growing demand for high-bandwidth memory, benefiting Micron regardless of whether GPUs or TPUs power AI infrastructure.
