Applied Materials has appointed Akash Palkhiwala, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Qualcomm Incorporated, to its board of directors, effective immediately. Palkhiwala, who has also been named to the board's Audit Committee, brings extensive financial and operational leadership experience in the computing and technology industry. Chairman Tom Iannotti praised Palkhiwala's track record in finance and his decades of semiconductor industry experience, saying he will strengthen the board during Applied Materials' next phase of growth. Palkhiwala has served as Qualcomm's CFO since 2019 and COO since 2024, and previously held various finance roles at Qualcomm since 2001, as well as a private equity analyst position at KeyBank.
