Applied Materials said AI investment is lifting semiconductor equipment demand, with customer spending forecasts rising and cloud providers' capital expenditures expected to exceed $700 billion in the U.S. and approach $1 trillion globally. CFO Brice Hill said at Citi's 2026 Global TMT Conference that the company's rolling eight-quarter forecasts from its largest customers, particularly DRAM and leading-edge logic manufacturers, have increased throughout the year. Advanced packaging is a major growth area, with revenue expected to grow more than 70% this year after generating $1.4 billion last year. DRAM is entering a significant greenfield expansion cycle, with the industry adding roughly 400,000 wafer starts per month this year and similar additions expected over the next several years. Services revenue is growing more than 20%, and process diagnostics and control is expected to grow more than 50%, driven by chip complexity and AI-enabled tools.
