The Cabinet Office released revised figures on the 8th for April-June gross domestic product (GDP, seasonally adjusted), showing a 0.4% increase from the previous quarter in real terms, excluding the effects of price changes, and a 1.4% increase on an annualized basis. This was revised upward from the preliminary figures released last month (0.3% quarter-on-quarter increase, 1.1% annualized). By component, capital investment decreased by 0.9% (preliminary figure was a 1.2% decrease), narrowing the negative margin, while personal consumption, a pillar of domestic demand, increased by 0.01% (preliminary figure was a 0.02% decrease), a slight upward revision that turned it positive. Government spending also rose to a 1.7% increase (preliminary figure was a 1.6% increase).
