ArcelorMittal SAChairman expresses confidence in long-term steel demand driven by emerging markets, infrastructure renewal, and energy transition

ArcelorMittal has released a special video message from Executive Chairman Lakshmi Mittal ahead of its 20th anniversary on 31 July. In remarks delivered to the World Steel Dynamics annual Global Steel Dynamics Forum 2026 in New York, Mr Mittal reflected on the merger of Mittal Steel and Arcelor, stating it created a stronger, more resilient business that navigated the Global Financial Crisis, COVID-19, and the rise of China's steel industry. He noted that operating in 2026 is very different from 2006, with faster markets, greater technological change, and a more complex environment. Looking ahead, he expressed confidence in long-term steel demand driven by emerging markets like India, infrastructure renewal in developed economies, and the energy transition, while underlining the importance of domestic industrial policy. ArcelorMittal is one of the world's leading integrated steel and mining companies, with a presence in 60 countries and primary steelmaking operations in 14 countries, generating revenues of $61.4 billion in 2025.
