Armata Pharmaceuticals has secured an additional $2.5 million from the Department of Defense to advance its lead antibacterial candidate AP-SA02. The funding is part of a multi-year research and development agreement initially awarded $15 million in 2020 by the Defense Health Agency and Joint Warfighter Medical Research Program, bringing the total award to $28.7 million. The non-dilutive capital will support activities required to initiate a Phase 3 trial in the second half of 2026 for AP-SA02 as an adjunct treatment for complicated Staphylococcus aureus bacteremia. CEO Deborah Birx emphasized the DoD's continued partnership in developing the program.
