McDonald’s CorporationAsian stock markets mostly opened higher today, buoyed by a sharp drop in crude oil prices after US President Donald Trump revealed he had called off plans to strike Iran, easing concerns over Middle East tensions and oil supply risks. Japan's Nikkei opened at 63,995.28, up 240.38 points or 0.38%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index opened at 26,090.98, up 81.58 points or 0.31%. China's Shanghai Composite opened at 3,816.37, up 6.71 points or 0.18%. South Korea's KOSPI rose 1.5%, and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 added 0.5%. West Texas Intermediate crude tumbled 5.11% to settle at 80.34 dollars a barrel in New York trading on Monday, after Trump said he had decided to cancel the Iran strike plan and that the US is moving forward with talks with Iran, even though Iran has denied such talks are taking place. Investors are also watching earnings reports from major US-listed companies, including Caterpillar and McDonald's, as well as the release of US nonfarm payrolls data on Friday, August 7th. Analysts expect an increase of 88,000 jobs in July, after a gain of just 57,000 in June, while the unemployment rate is likely to hold steady at 4.2%.
