Asian stocks ended mostly higher on Tuesday, reversing early losses after China's June trade data smashed forecasts. China's exports rose 27 percent year-on-year, the fastest since 2021, while imports jumped 36 percent to a five-year high. The Shanghai Composite index surged 1.36 percent to 3,967.13, and Hong Kong's Hang Seng index ended up 0.52 percent at 24,340.73. Japan's Nikkei rebounded from a one-month low to close 0.74 percent higher at 67,743.50, and South Korea's Kospi recovered from a more than 5 percent plunge to finish 0.73 percent higher at 6,856.83. The gains came despite a sharp rise in oil prices after U.S. President Donald Trump reimposed a blockade on Iranian ships and proposed a 20 percent fee on cargo passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
