Asian shares advanced Thursday, led by a surge in Japanese and South Korean technology stocks after upbeat earnings from U.S. chipmakers Qualcomm and Micron Technology. Tokyo's Nikkei 225 jumped 4.1% to 71,995.59, with Tokyo Electron gaining 7.1% and Advantest soaring 13.4%, while South Korea's Kospi hit a record, surging 5.9% to 8,968.22 as Samsung Electronics rose 5.4% and SK Hynix leaped 11.6%. Oil prices fell more than $1, with Brent crude down 1.3% to $72.90 and U.S. crude losing 1.4% to $69.37, bringing them closer to pre-war levels. Gains elsewhere in Asia were more modest, with Taiwan's Taiex up 0.8% and India's Sensex adding 0.6%, while the Shanghai Composite edged up 0.4% to 4,125.76 and Hong Kong's Hang Seng dropped 1.4% to 23,090.27.
