Intel CorporationIntel's 18A-P node enters risk production, a key technology milestone for its foundry recovery.
ASML Holding NV ADR shares surged to a 52-week high on Wednesday after Intel Corporation announced that its enhanced 18A-P process node has entered risk production. Intel revealed the milestone at the 2026 VLSI Symposium in Honolulu on June 16, noting that the node offers either 9% higher performance at the same power or 18% lower power at equivalent performance, along with 20–40% better thermal resistance and full design-rule compatibility with the existing 18A process. ASML traded up 6.2% at around $1,915, touching an intraday peak of $1,917.63, while Intel rose approximately 2.65% to $120.15. The development is seen as a positive signal for ASML, the sole supplier of extreme ultraviolet lithography machines, as any acceleration in Intel's foundry ramp could drive incremental EUV tool demand. Intel's foundry division posted a $2.4 billion operating loss in Q1 2026, and the investment thesis for its recovery hinges on attracting third-party chip designers to its advanced nodes.
