AT&T Inc.earnings beat, raised buyback to $10B, strong subscriber growth and free cash flow guidance

AT&T reported second-quarter earnings that beat expectations and raised its 2026 share repurchase plan to about $10 billion from $8 billion. Revenue rose 2.3% year over year to $31.6 billion, while adjusted earnings per share jumped to $0.65 from $0.54, a roughly 20% increase. Free cash flow reached $4.7 billion, up from $4.4 billion a year earlier, and the company added 432,000 postpaid phone subscribers along with 646,000 internet customers. Management guided for at least $18 billion in free cash flow in 2026, which would cover the roughly $7.6 billion in dividends and the expanded buyback, though net debt stood at $126.4 billion and leverage is expected to rise before declining. The stock closed at $24.13, about 19% below its 52-week high, yielding 4.6%.
