Badger Meter IncClass action lawsuit alleging misleading statements about financial results, followed by disappointing earnings and stock drop.

Bragar Eagel & Squire, P.C. has filed a class action lawsuit against Badger Meter on behalf of investors who purchased or acquired the company's common stock between April 18, 2024 and April 16, 2026. The complaint alleges that during this period, the company misled investors by attributing strong financial results to favorable industry trends and solid execution, when in fact the results were driven by pulling forward customer orders, which concealed weakening demand. The truth emerged through a series of disappointing quarterly reports, culminating on April 17, 2026, when Badger Meter reported first-quarter sales down 9% year-over-year, utility water sales down 10%, operating earnings of $35.2 million compared to $49.4 million a year earlier, and diluted earnings per share of $0.93, down from $1.30. On that news, the stock fell $36.75 per share, or more than 24%, from $152.29 to $115.54. Investors have until August 3, 2026 to apply to the court to be appointed lead plaintiff.
