BAE Systems plcBAE announces Ukraine artillery partnership, pilot training deal, and new warhead, all boosting demand outlook.
BAE Systems announced a series of defense initiatives at the Farnborough International Airshow, including a licensing agreement to support artillery production in Ukraine, a teaming agreement with Boeing and Saab on a next-generation pilot training system for the Royal Air Force, and the launch of a new modular warhead called BlackThorn. The Ukraine partnership will allow a local defense partner to manufacture an initial version of the L119 105 mm Light Gun for testing, with BAE providing technical information and engineering support to develop a Ukrainian variant. The pilot training proposal, based on Boeing's T-7 aircraft, includes plans for a final assembly and integration facility in the United Kingdom if selected, and aims to prepare pilots for Typhoon, F-35, and future combat aircraft. BlackThorn is a modular warhead designed for missiles, one-way attack drones, counter-drone systems, and uncrewed ground vehicles, and has already been selected for integration into Frankenburg Technologies' Mark I short-range air defense missile.
