Marathon Petroleum CorpThe Bank of England held its key interest rate at 3.75% while cautioning that inflation will still climb this year due to fallout from the Iran war. Seven members of the nine-person Monetary Policy Committee voted to keep rates unchanged, while Megan Greene and Huw Pill dissented in favor of a hike to 4%. Governor Andrew Bailey noted that oil prices have fallen in recent days but remain above pre-war levels, meaning past energy-price increases are still feeding into inflation. The MPC now expects CPI inflation to be just under 3% over the next three months before rising to slightly above 3.25% toward the end of 2026, a lower path than the three scenarios outlined in April, when the most benign forecast saw inflation peaking at about 3.6% and the worst case at 6.2%. Official figures showed CPI inflation held at 2.8% in May, above the Bank's 2% target.
