Lanzhou Huanghe Enterprise Co LtdThe Bank of Korea has resumed physical gold purchases for the first time in 13 years, aiming to diversify its foreign exchange reserves. As of July, the central bank held 104.4 tonnes of gold, with gold reserves valued at 4.79 billion US dollars at the end of June, still a limited share of total reserves. Meanwhile, the start of US-Iran talks and OPEC+ announcing a September production increase have sent crude oil prices tumbling, easing inflation pressures. Markets have lowered the probability of further Federal Reserve rate hikes, and real US Treasury yields have retreated, reducing the opportunity cost of holding gold. Shenyin & Wanguo Futures notes that elevated short-term real rates and a strong US dollar continue to weigh on gold valuations, but the medium- to long-term trend of central bank buying remains intact, providing a foundation for higher precious metals prices. As of 11:13 AM on August 4, 2026, the Bosera Gold ETF slipped 0.02 percent to 8.39 yuan, having gained 1.12 percent over the past two weeks. The ETF has recorded 13 consecutive days of net inflows, attracting a total of 553 million yuan, with average daily net inflows of 42.51 million yuan.
