Biomerieux SALaunches new GENE-UP TYPER SLM Salmonella test, expanding its food safety product portfolio.

bioMérieux has introduced GENE-UP TYPER SLM, a new real-time PCR assay designed to support rapid root cause analysis by discriminating Salmonella in food industry environments. The test specifically targets Salmonella enterica subspecies enterica, the subspecies most frequently isolated in human salmonellosis cases and food-related incidents. It runs on the GENE-UP system and, after DNA extraction and amplification, results are uploaded to the AUGMENTED-DX web portal, where machine learning assigns a unique strain address and groups identical strains into clusters to trace contamination sources. The launch follows the early 2025 introduction of a Listeria monocytogenes assay on the same platform. Mérieux NutriSciences holds co-exclusive rights to perform testing in key geographies for outsourced services, and the kit is now available worldwide.
