Brazil does not accept the United States' decision to impose a 12.5% import tariff on Brazilian goods under Section 301 and is preparing retaliatory measures under reciprocal trade law while filing a complaint with the WTO. The Brazilian government stated that the US investigation was arbitrary and unfair, using forced labor issues as a pretext for trade barriers. The new tariff measures cover 60 countries worldwide at rates between 10% and 12.5% and took effect at 12:01 a.m. on July 24, US time.
