Broadcom IncBroadcom beat Q3 estimates and guided Q4 above expectations, with CEO highlighting strong AI chip demand and financing deals.

Broadcom Inc. CEO Hock Tan likened Anthropic and OpenAI to "two geniuses in the middle of Mongolia" needing help to reach college, explaining why the company is financing their AI infrastructure. On the third-quarter earnings call, Tan said only two of Broadcom's six major AI chip customers require outside capital, with support flowing through the XPV platform launched in June with Apollo Global Management and Blackstone Inc. Broadcom has closed a $35 billion first tranche tied to Anthropic's initial 1-gigawatt deployment, and Tan estimated each gigawatt could generate roughly $30 billion in annual revenue for those companies. He also predicted Anthropic would overtake Alphabet Inc.'s Google as Broadcom's largest custom AI chip customer by 2027, and called Anthropic's expected IPO "an open secret." Broadcom reported third-quarter revenue of $29.59 billion, beating estimates, and adjusted earnings of $3.32 per share, also above forecasts, while guiding fourth-quarter revenue to approximately $34.8 billion.
