Broadcom IncQ3 revenue forecast of $34.8B missed consensus, disappointing investors despite earnings beat.

Broadcom shares fell about 4% in after-hours trading on Wednesday despite reporting fiscal third-quarter earnings and revenue that beat expectations, as its current-quarter revenue forecast of $34.8 billion came in below the $35.05 billion consensus. The company posted adjusted earnings per share of $3.32 versus the expected $3.23, and revenue grew 86% year over year to $29.6 billion, topping estimates of $29.45 billion. Analyst Cody Acree of StoneX, who has a Buy rating, said the beat and raise were "not enough to keep investors happy" given the company's heavy exposure to AI. Broadcom's AI semiconductor revenue surged 221% year over year to $16.7 billion, and CEO Hock Tan cited strong demand for custom AI accelerators and networking. The stock is up 6% year-to-date, compared with Nvidia's 20% gain.
