Summary · why it matters

Analysts at KGI Securities Thailand estimate that B.Grimm Power, or BGRIM, will benefit from the expansion of data center businesses and the new power development plan, PDP 2026. Every additional 100 megawatts of data center service capacity will boost annual profit by about 1.5 billion baht and raise the target share price by around 3.50 baht per share. Meanwhile, every 100 megawatts of additional installed solar capacity will lift annual profit by 150 to 200 million baht and increase the target price by 0.20 to 0.25 baht per share. The 96-megawatt data center joint venture with Digital Edge is expected to generate an annual profit share of 300 to 500 million baht. In the long term, BGRIM aims to expand data center service capacity to 300 megawatts by 2030. The 365-megawatt Nakwol 1 wind power plant, in which it holds a 49 percent stake, is about 80 percent complete in construction and will begin recognizing profit share before full project completion in the second half of 2026, with an expected annual profit share of around 500 to 600 million baht. For core profit in the second quarter of 2026, a preliminary estimate is 260 million baht, down from the same period last year and the previous quarter due to higher gas costs pressuring margins, but advisory income is expected to provide support. The analyst maintains a buy recommendation and raises the target price to 23.50 baht, viewing that increased financial flexibility from asset monetization will help BGRIM seize new investment opportunities in direct PPA projects and PDP 2026.

US Hyperscalers to Spend Up to $725 Billion on AI Infrastructure in 2026

The top five US hyperscalers are projecting a combined capital expenditure of $660 billion to $725 billion for 2026, nearly double their 2025 outlays, as the AI build-out shifts from software to physical infrastructure. Microsoft is guiding for roughly $175 billion in adjusted capital expenditure for both FY2026 and FY2027, with two-thirds of quarterly spend going to short-lived assets like CPUs and GPUs and the rest to long-lived data center infrastructure, and it added 1 gigawatt of capacity in Q3 FY2026, doubling its global footprint in two years. Amazon AWS has raised its 2026 capex guidance to approximately $220 billion, with CEO Andy Jassy saying AI capacity is expected to remain constrained through 2027 and contracted demand extending into 2028. Meta saw profit drop 14% in Q2 2026 despite a 28% revenue increase as its build-out, including a 1 gigawatt data center in Ohio and a Louisiana facility that could scale to 5 gigawatts, compressed margins, while Alphabet raised its 2026 capex guidance to as much as $205 billion and its Google Cloud backlog more than doubled year-over-year to $240 billion. The Stargate joint venture involving Oracle, OpenAI and others targets up to $500 billion in infrastructure investment by 2029, and Oracle's FY2026 capex reached $55.7 billion, more than doubling from the previous year.

Citi: Data Center Opposition Has Not Weakened AI Construction Pipeline

Citi says growing political opposition to artificial intelligence infrastructure ahead of the November U.S. midterm elections has not materially weakened the data center construction pipeline. Data center development has become a bipartisan flashpoint, with local governments introducing moratoriums and at least 15 state legislatures proposing tighter regulatory restrictions, yet spending remains strong as AI infrastructure demand continues to support development. The impact has been concentrated among speculative and early-stage projects, which are increasingly delayed or cancelled during local approval processes, while late-stage developments that have already secured sites and grid connections continue to move ahead. Hyperscalers are seeking workarounds to power constraints and local restrictions, with Amazon pursuing direct investment in nuclear development with Dominion Energy and Meta securing a major nuclear power purchase agreement with Constellation Energy. Citi does not expect another market shock comparable to the emergence of DeepSeek, arguing investors have already adjusted to the prospect of highly efficient Chinese models, though it flags a potentially greater risk from governments restricting models deemed too dangerous, which could abruptly create excess computing capacity.

Suppajee Meets Indian Envoy, Pushes Co-Creation and Studies Baht-Rupee Use

Suppajee Suthamphan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce, disclosed the outcome of talks with the Ambassador of the Republic of India to Thailand, Puneet Agrawal, that Thailand and India will advance cooperation in a "Co-Creation Co-Investment" format across six potential sectors: herbs and pharmaceuticals, IT, processed food, green industry, automotive, construction, and the hospitality industry, in order to link into global supply chains rather than merely exporting goods to each other's markets. Both sides assigned the start of joint work and progress within 45 days to pilot a model. Most recently, five to six Thai investors have shown interest in cooperating with India under this concept, and the Indian Ambassador reported that Indian companies are preparing to invest in data centers in Thailand, with several already in joint ventures with Thai companies. Both sides agreed to use the JTC platform as a mechanism to monitor cooperation, with India proposing that the JTC meeting draw up a Plan of Action for the services sector. The two sides are in the process of linking India's UPI payment system with Thailand's PromptPay, and are discussing the possibility of using local currencies, the baht and the rupee, to facilitate trade and reduce costs. India is Thailand's seventh-largest trading partner in the world and its number one trading partner in South Asia. Over the seven months from January to July 2026, trade between Thailand and India was worth 13.97456 billion US dollars, expanding 8.07 percent from the same period the previous year, with Thailand exporting 10.27032 billion US dollars to India and importing 3.70424 billion US dollars from India.
