Brookfield has agreed to purchase Aypa Power from funds managed by Blackstone Energy Transition Partners, assigning an enterprise value of around $7 billion and an equity value of $3 billion to the transaction. The deal marks Brookfield's entry into the North American battery energy storage market. Aypa Power operates a portfolio of roughly 6.5 gigawatts of operating, under-construction and contracted battery storage capacity across the US and Canada, and is described as the largest stand-alone battery storage developer in North America with a development pipeline exceeding 20 gigawatts. Brookfield will acquire Aypa's project portfolio, development operations and a team of approximately 200, with 95% of operating and under-construction assets secured under long-term contracts with investment-grade clients averaging 17 years remaining. Completion is subject to customary regulatory approvals.
