The mobile Cabinet meeting in Songkhla has approved the national rail technology strategy for 2028–2032, with a total budget of 8,677 million baht, as proposed by the Ministry of Transport. The strategy was developed by the Rail Technology Research and Development Institute (Public Organization). It covers five areas with 35 projects, aiming to elevate Thailand to self-reliance in rail technology and reduce dependence on foreign countries. The strategy includes research and development of rail technology, human resource development, research on standards and testing systems, technology transfer and adoption, and the establishment of a comprehensive domestic rail industry.
