CH. Karnchang PCLCabinet approval of railway projects increases potential for CK's backlog via new infrastructure tenders.
The Cabinet, during its mobile meeting in Songkhla Province, approved three projects under the second phase of the southern dual-track railway, with a total investment of 107 billion baht. These include the Chumphon–Surat Thani, Surat Thani–Hat Yai Junction, and Hat Yai Junction–Padang Besar routes. The government will bear all costs, and construction is set to begin in fiscal year 2026. Meanwhile, three other routes in the northern and northeastern regions received in-principle approval for further detailed studies. Kasikorn Securities' research division views this as positive for construction and building materials companies, particularly CK and STECON, as there is potential for their backlogs to increase with the tendering of new infrastructure projects.
