CarbiosSuccessful completion of 100 batches validates enzymatic biorecycling technology for textiles, enabling licensing expansion.

Carbios has expanded its licensing offering to the global textile market after successfully completing 100 production trial batches at its Clermont-Ferrand demonstration plant. The enzymatic biorecycling process achieved more than 95% conversion within 24 hours on complex post-consumer textile waste streams, delivering virgin-quality monomers equivalent to those from packaging waste. The consistent reproducibility of these results under industrial conditions validates the technology for all types of PET waste, including both packaging and textiles. The textile market represents approximately 67 million tonnes of PET polyester fiber consumption per year, nearly twice the size of the PET packaging market and about two-thirds of global PET consumption. CEO Benoît Grenot stated that the milestone confirms the robustness and industrial maturity of the technology, enabling the company to meet growing demand for scalable circular recycling solutions.
